Plot Summary: Naruto closely follows the life of a boy who is feared and detested by the villagers of the hidden leaf village of Konoha. The distrust of the boy has little to do with the boy himself, but it’s what’s inside him that causes anxiety. Long before Naruto came to be, a Kyuubi (demon fox) with great fury and power waged war taking many lives. The battle ensued for a long time until a man known as the Fourth Hokage, Yondaime, the strongest ninja in Konoha, fiercely fought the Kyuubi.
The fight was soon won by Yondaime as he sealed the evil demon in a human body. Thus the boy, Naruto, was born. As Naruto grows he decides to become the strongest ninja in Konoha in an effort to show everyone that he is not as they perceive him to be, but is a human being worthy of love and admiration. But the road to becoming Hokage, the title for the strongest ninja in Konoha, is a long and arduous one. It is a path filled with betrayal, pain, and loss; but with hard work, Naruto may achieve Hokage.

How to apply the spoiler tag in comments: Spoilers(#s 'Put your text here') or: !Put your text here! I too liked Kakashi ANBU arc and The new Chunin exams fillers but they were between war arc not pain arc, besides worst fillers that I was taking about lasts from episode 223 to 242 (Paradise island and all), i.e after pain arc.
Infact, it was these episodes that made most of my friends to drop the anime as they thought producers were merely extending the series to earn money, also Naruto gained self-esteem during that time. He returned back to normal after talking to re-animated Itachi. Other way around. Pain ( that episode that everyone hates) was directed by Atsushi Wakabayashi who also did all the best episodes in part 1 (30, 71, 133) and practically made Yu Yu Hakusho as good as it was single handedly, and on it also worked Norio Matsumoto, considered by many to be one of the best animators in Japan period (and you can even see him in many high profile anime outside of Pierrot, like Ghibli movies and Mob Psycho 100), Hiroyuki Yamashita (we all know and love Yamashita, introductions are unnecessary) and even more top talent. Road to Ninja on the other hand was a movie made at the last minute because the Power arc (which was supposed to be a movie and which the above people did work on too) was turned into anime episodes and they needed a replacement. I think you're confusing this with Guy vs. Madara, which suffered because of the production of the Boruto movie.
No, mixed up the movie but he's right about this one. Most of Pierrot's best animators were busy working on 'The Lost Tower' during the Pain arc. Besides 166 and 167, every episode of Naruto vs. Pain was outsourced to a different (and lesser) animation studio. That's definitely not the case for Sakura/Chiyo vs.
Sasori, Team 10 vs. Hidan/Kazuzu, Sasuke vs. Itachi, or any of the other major fights. All of those fights had a mixture of 1) regular in-house episodes from Pierrot, 2) outsourced episodes, and 3) a 'special' episode or two. Pain only had 'special' and outsourced, but no regular in-house episodes. Sure, but OP was saying that the fight as a whole was pretty poorly animated thanks to the movie production, which it really was. It had 2 'special' episodes, 0 regular in-house episodes, and 4 outsourced/bad episodes (163, 164, 165, 168).
Imagine if just two of those outsourced episodes had been done in-house by Pierrot. Other fights with more than one special episode still managed to have multiple in-house episodes as well. But that didn't happen in Naruto vs. Pain thanks to the movie production. There was definitely some squandered potential there. If you don't like the Naruto vs Pain fight its pure ignorance. I don't think that's necessarily true.
Episode 167 has incredible animation, direction, and layout, no doubt. I'm in love with like 99% of that episode. That being said, I do think that a couple of the artistic choices that Wakabayashi made in that episode are a little questionable.
Those choices are obviously intentional and well-executed, but that doesn't mean I have to think they work perfectly in the context of the episode. You can acknowledge that something is expertly-made while still having your own opinion about it.
